The Portuguese Society of Rheology
(Sociedade Portuguesa de Reologia)
is a non-profit technical scientific and cultural association, possessing legal
personality, with no definite term. The Portuguese Society of Rheology was founded
in 1997 to bring together individuals, both from the academic and industrial fields,
as well as organisations with mutual interests on the science of flow and deformation
of materials, to promote and propagate rheology within the national scientific community,
to improve the dissemination of knowledge on the field, and to facilitate and develop
international collaboration with partners having similar purposes. Materials of
interest include, among many others, polymers, foods, paints, biological fluids,
and pharmaceutical products. Below we state 4 main objectives for the Society action,
taken from the Society by-laws:

Members enjoy the benefits of receiving SPR newsletter, propagating rheological information through the SPR means, easier contacts with other national and international rheologists, conference discounts, etc. In addition, student members benefit from the possibility to apply for the Annual Doctoral Prize and for conference/travel grants.
